holy fuck. i bought a PSP because i really wanted to try the Wipeout games that came out on it and Twisted Metal. 3 days i've been playing Wipeout Pulse straight. it's fucking amazing. i never thought i'd be hooked on a RACING game like this. Sure, Wipeout XL was cool shit back in the day for playstation, but this. THIS! it's a whole new world. been working hard to unlock different skins and such and just now unlocked a concept skin for my favorite team in the game. i've made a collection of pictures so you can see what goes on and so forth. it's a fast and gorgeous game set in the future where anti-gravity isn't just science-fiction.

Wipeout

i don't know if any of you have any experience with the Wipeout series, but coming from someone that hates all sports and racing games, you have to at least try these games. the learning curve is steep, but once you get the hang of it you feel like you're really hot shit. Getting a grip on the speed of teh games and the strategy of getting the perfect racing line is actually fun. With Wipeout Pulse there's an online option so you can race people online. i get my ass handed to me a lot, but i still do it because i learn how to play better. All of the games are challenging, but utterly rewarding when you get that gold medal.

Here's an amazing track (my favorite) from Wipeout Pulse. Wipeout games are also known for their fantastic array of electronic music. from techno, drum 'n bass, and trance. forgot to mention this was THE major draw for me. also Wipeout XL was the reason i started liking techno music way back when. The Wipeout XL disc actually doubles as the freaking soundtrack! just pop it in a CD player and you can play all the songs on it. pretty radical for the time when it released in the mid 90's. it also included advertising for Red Bull energy drinks.

How I protect my PSP Slim & Lite

As my title states it is definitely how I protect my PSP from scratches and falls.
If you want to protect your PSP, here is my formula/reco:

First you need your PSP.
And a film protector (like hori or invisible shield) to protect it from micro scratches

and a clamshell protector and wrist strap and airform pouch from blackhorns.

DON'T get the silicone glove and aluminum protectors, they don't protect the PSP's screen!

A small carabiner.

Why these you ask?

When playing your PSP, the clamshell protects your PSP from accidental or intentional falls. Using the clamshell creates micro scratches on your psp that's why you need the protector films.
The wrist strap is a secondary defense against accidental falls. Attach the carabiner here.
Imagine your PSP is a mountain climber. That is what the carab is for.
The protector films act as a cushion between your PSP and the clamshell protector. Make sure you cover the back side also (that is where most scratches happen due to UMD door activity).
The dust caps do what they are supposed to do, protect the terminals from dust and lint build-up.
The airform pouch protects all of this when your PSP is in transit.

Just sharing in case anyone is as paranoid as I am.

Skype come to PSP

With the next scheduled firmware update, users will be able to download a completely functional version of Skype for the PSP. In addition to making phone calls to existing Skype users, PSP owners will be able to manage their contacts list, see who's online and who's not, make and calls to/from actual telephone numbers, and have complete access to Skype account settings.

Addictive Games on PSP ?

Hi all,

As the title suggested, any recommendations?

Well, for me, I would recommend Prince of Persia : Revelation, Prince of Persia : Rival Swords, Grand Theft Auto : Vice City Stories, Final Fantasy 7 and 9 (Haven't got the time to try 8 yet) and Test Drive : Unlimited.

On my normal days, I will play Fifa 08 where I kind of prefer it more than Pro Evolution Soccer, Marvel Nemesis, Ridge Racer 2 and NBA 08.

I would say Test Drive Unlimited is the best racing game on PSP. Need for Speed and Midnight Racer are failures.

Please let me know if I miss out something.

Random Musing: Final Fantasy + UVERworld

I'm totally hyped over the Squenix Party! I want to say so much but since I'm still computer-less and I can't really do any decent entries at work. I'll just share an AMV that I love. Squenix + UVERworld fangirling in one post <3!

The AMV is based on Last Order: Final Fantasy VII OVA and music is Nitro by UVERworld. I recommend the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children film by the way to those who hasn't seen it yet. It came out 2005 but the North America release was just last Month (February). The OVA actually has a bit of differences with the film but both are worth seeing [they are bundled together, anyway!] specially if you're a Final Fantasy Fan. More so if you're a Squeenix Fangirl like me and can't wait for Final Fantasy: Crisis Core to come out for the PSP since the game is based on this OVA. n_n

Note: HUGE spoilers so don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled. Although seeing this actually might want you to watch it but hey, don't say I didn't warn you though. :(

Last weekend I received my Bluetake bluetooth upgrade for my PSP along with Motorola HT820 bluetooth headphones. All I have to say is Wow!!!

The Bluetake dongle paired with the headphones just fine. The headphones can pair with two Bluetooth devices at a time such that you can have both PSP and your phone work with them. When you want to use the phone the headphones automatically switch over to the phone and when you are done they switch back to the PSP. They also have a built-in microphone so you can use them as handsfree set with your phone.

The coolest thing is that I can keep both my PSP and my phone in my bag and listen to music on one and be able to answer and make phone calls with the other without having to take my headphones off or mess with the cords.
